With so many tools on screen, it is easy to wonder where to begin. Just remember one rule: connect the device first, then pick a tool — everything else is a couple of clicks. This guide follows the real order of use.
1. Download and install
Open the download page and pick your build: Windows users take 64-bit (almost every PC from the last decade), Mac users choose Apple or Intel by chip. The installer is around 170–190 MB; double-click and click through.
- Windows: pause antivirus during install to avoid blocked components
- Mac: right-click the installer and choose Open to bypass Gatekeeper
- Never download from third-party sites — modified builds bundle ads
2. Connect your device
Plug the phone in with an original or MFi-certified cable, then tap Trust on the device and enter the passcode. Once connected, the home screen shows model, iOS version, serial number and battery health.
3. Smart flash
Click Smart Flash at the top and the tool matches the official firmware automatically. Here is how to choose a mode:
- Keep user data — upgrade or downgrade while keeping photos, apps and data
- Quick flash — erase everything, best for freezing and boot loops
- Anti-recovery flash — wipe private data beyond recovery, ideal before selling
Before flashing: turn off Find My iPhone, keep battery above 50%, use a rear USB port and back up important data first.
4. Backup and restore
Go to Toolbox → Backup / Restore. Choose a full-device backup or tick only photos, contacts, messages and notes. Backups default to Documents / i4Tools / Backup; move them off the system drive if you can.
On a new phone, copy the backup over or read it from the original path, choose Restore, and everything comes back — including your home screen layout.
Why a backup fails
- Not enough disk space (aim for 1.5× the used capacity)
- Path contains non-ASCII or special characters
- Cable came loose mid-way — avoid touching the device
5. Device check report
Click View Check Report to compare factory values against current ones across 30+ items: serial, model, storage, battery, camera, screen, Touch ID and more. Green means it matches the factory data; yellow or red items deserve a closer look.
6. Ringtones and wallpapers
In Toolbox → Ringtone Maker, import a local track, drag to select a clip under 30 seconds, save and hit Import to Device. The wallpaper tool auto-crops to your exact screen size — no manual resizing.
7. Live screen
Toolbox → Live Screen supports both cable and Wi-Fi. You can type on the phone with your keyboard and record the screen to a video file — handy for tutorials and streaming.
8. Wrapping up
